Carry On General Guidelines

The majority of airlines include a carry-on bag with the purchase of a ticket; however some airlines may have a surcharge.

Size Limit: Standard carry-on dimensions should not exceed 45 linear measurement (115 cm)—typically 22" x 14" x 9".
Weight Limit: The maximum carry-on weight is generally 40 lbs (18 kg), though limits may vary by airline.

Liquids, aerosols and gels are allowed in limited quantities. Each traveler is allowed one bag in order to limit the total volume of liquids, aerosols and gels. Consolidating products into one bag and X-raying them separately from the carry-on bag enables security officers to quickly clear all items.
  • 3-1-1 Rule: 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottles or less (by volume); 1 quart-sized, clear plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 ounce (100ml) container size is a security measure.
  • Declare larger liquids. Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding 3.4 ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. Officers may need to open these items to conduct additional screening.

Medication: We recommend packing only what is needed for your trip. While not required, carrying medications in their original prescription bottles can help streamline the screening process and prevent confusion.

Electronics: We recommend packing these in your carry-on as you will have more control over handling. *Please be prepared to remove your laptop from your bag in order for it be screened properly.

Checked Luggage General Guidelines

Aside from passengers with frequent flyer accounts or elite status, most airlines charge a fee for checked bags on each flight. These fees typically range from $25 to $38.

Size Limit: Checked bags must not exceed a total of 62 linear inches (length + width + height), or 157 cm.

Weight Limit: Most airlines allow checked bags up to 50 pounds (23 kg). Some budget carriers may enforce a 40-pound (18 kg) limit, so it's best to check with your airline directly.

When in doubt, leave it out. Unsure if an item is prohibited or not? Travelers should place such items in their checked baggage or leave the item at home.As always you can reach us and we will be able to answer any questions you may have. Or feel free to visit tsa.gov for additional tips .
